RE NEWLY DISCOVERED GONZALES WHITE HOUSE MEMO THAT IT IS OKAY TO TORTURE BY WATERBOARDING SO LONG AS IT WAS “IN GOOD FAITH”

Gonzales, Ashcroft, Wu, Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush could all easily prove once and for all that waterboarding is NOT torture. If they “in good faith” truly believed that, all they would have to do is each agree to be waterboarded by an expert for an hour or two and then tell us how safe and harmless it was. The expert torturer, I mean interrogator, would have to be indemnified and held harmless of course if he accidentally killed a couple of them, but as true patriots of the Cause, I’m sure they should be glad to sacrifice.

UPON LEANING OF THE MASSIVE PRISON ESCAPE IN AFGHANISTAN

On Bush’s watch, in one of the biggest prison breaks in history, 400 Taliban escaped.  Which is worse, having our Colonel Klink utterly fail to catch the Taliban chief, bin Laden, or losing 400 already caught?

UPON LEARNING FOX NEWS DELIBERATELY ALTERED PHOTOS OF ITS CRITICS

Someone ought to sue Rupert Murdock on the grounds of false advertising or deliberate misrepresentation for proclaiming his company has anything to do with reporting genuine “news.”

ON THE IDIOTIC DEBATE OVER WHO IS THE SUPPOSEDLY MOST PATRIOTIC CANDIDATE

Obama, as are all the so called leaders of the Democratic Party, are fatuous and far, far from ideal.  On the other hand, McCain is increasingly scary.  Apparently, being a Republic turns your mind to mush even if age doesn’t.

ON THE EXTENSION OF FISA

Would someone please publish and circulate the names and addresses of the nincompoop Democrat Senators and Representatives who apparently hate the Constitution as much as the Republican Party and the Bush Administration.

RESPONSE TO MOYERS ON THE ATTEMPTS OF CORPORATIONS TO CONTROL THE MEDIA

The situation of which Mr. Moyers speaks has been evident for many years now.  Yet, little happens except a perpetual worsening.

Why isn’t there the fully justifiable outrage there should be?  Did we lose the battle decades before in the schools and colleges where reverence for democratic concepts should be created and inspired?  It is not just that democracy has been hijacked.  It is that few seem to care anymore.

While Mr. Moyers points out a tiny handful of successes, I am reminded of the sad slogan long recognized in the environmental and historic preservation battles we have been fighting as well:  “Every victory is temporary.  Every defeat is permanent.”  Yet, fight on we must for the alternative is truly frightening.

ON THINKING ABOUT THE CONTRAST BETWEEN THE CONGRESS THAT WAS GOING TO IMPEACH RICHARD NIXON AND THE TIMID INEFFECTUAL CONGRESS WE CURRENTLY HAVE

Almost every Democrat in Congress deserves a hard kick in the rear end for being lazy, cowardly, clueless, witless, naive, delusional and apparently had their fingers crossed when they took their oath of office to defend the Constitution. How can they live with themselves?  Better yet, how can they continue to call themselves leaders of the Democratic Movement which used to support the concept of the Golden Rule rather than the crass He Who Has the Most Gold Rules.  They all deserve to be voted out of office and would be but for the fact that the Republicans are all those things at the moment plus rapaciously greedy and infinitely scary as well.  Scary trumps stupidity when deciding who not to vote for.

Nevertheless, if the supposed “Democrats” who are doing nothing but take up space in the halls of Congress can’t put a halt to the depredations of the Republicans like the further extension of the odious and overtly unConstitutional FISA law, then we will ultimately find some real Democrats to run who can.

UPON LEARNING BUSH IS HAVING FUN ON THE LINKS AGAIN

Apparently, the Prez plans to earn big bucks for McCain by playing golf with Fat Cats as a fund raiser.  Of course, that means either the Prez “forgot” his pledge a while back, lame though it was, to demonstrate alleged “support” of our troops in Iraq by giving up golf or he has proved once again campaign contributors mean far more to him than those under his command.  So much for his eternal bumper sticker-style piety.  Why does anyone still believe anything that comes out of his mouth?

ON HEARING BUSH’S PRESS CONFERENCE ABOUT THE ECONOMY MESS

In his July 15 press conference on the proliferating economic disasters, Bush stated both a rare honesty and summed up his presidency at the same time when he admitted, “I’m not smart enough….”  So true.

ON HEARING IRAQ PRIME MINISTER MALICHI WANTS A TIMETABLE FOR WITHDRAWAL

The leader of the Iraq government says he wants us out.  Eight out of ten of his people apparently want us out or dead.  Almost the entire world wants us out.  And, except for Bush, Cheney, their offspring McCain and the CEOs of war industries, most Americans want us out.  Too bad we aren’t a democracy.

COMMENTARY ABOUT OBAMA’S SUPPOSED LACK OF HUMOR

We’ve had a joke for a president for eight years.  The joke’ll be on us if we don’t elect someone other than a Republican president this time around.  Have we forgotten that McCain jokes about “Bomb, bomb, bomb. Bomb Iran.”?  Assuming of course, that really was a joke in his mind.

OBSERVATION UPON HEARING BUSH IS FINALLY NEGOTIATING WITH IRAN

Wow!  Bush’s number three man in negotiations with the last remaining “Axis of Evil” Club founding member, Iran?  Guess Bush too must a traitorous, surrender-monkey, terrorist lover just like Obama.  Boy, we better not elect Bush president.  Bet he secretly practices Islamism and maybe even fist bumps when no one is looking.

COMMENT ON HEARING NEW ZEALAND STUDENTS ARE OFFERING A REWARD FOR THE CAPTURE OF CONDILESA RICE AS A WAR CRIMINAL

What the NZ students don’t seem to understand that there can be no war crime unless someone who doesn’t speak English commits it.  Atrocities are only atrocities when someone small of stature and dark of hue with strange headgear and a three day growth of stubble performs them.  Come to think of it, no one is even allowed to be chastised in this government unless they do due something truly horrific and despicable like, say, have consensual sex with someone.  It is similar to financial crimes.  Rob a corner grocery store of twenty dollars in the till and go to the Can for life.  Rob your investors, your borrowers, and the tax payers of a trillion dollars and go to Cancun for life.

REGARDING BUSH’S STATE OF THE UNION POLEMIC

Bush spoke about the state of the union.  What “union”?

For the past few decades, there have been two Americas.  The top 1% rich and those who assumed they would be allowed to become rich vs. everyone else in this country.  Those who believe the Constitution, court decisions and international law are quaint vs. the rest of the world.  Those who love the Republican platform of gold rules vs. everyone who believes in the Golden Rule.

COMMENT ON HEARING THE BUSH REGULATORS MAY HAVE HELPED KILL OFF OUR BEE COLONIES.

Has the Bush Administration gotten ANYTHING right . . .EVER?  Seriously, what have they ever been successful at besides stealing elections by hook and crook plus moving massive amounts of money into the hands of the already filthy rich?  Is there a single solitary program a thoughtful rational person can point to with pride?  Is there anything the Bushites have not broken?  And, if you say no more 9/11s, I have to ask how, other than pure luck or accident.  Yet, for some reason, McCain, Bush’s busy bee camp follower, is actually ahead of the one viable non-Bush candidate that remains, one of the few currently in office not grossly tainted by either personal greed or incompetency to prevent the rampant greed of the Republicans and rape of our country and others.  How can anyone not be embarrassed they voted Republican in the 21st Century and still find reasons not to support Obama?
